Who can use EquaAccess apps
EquaAccess™ apps are designed for use in educational settings. They may be used by:
- Students of any age, including children under 13
- Parents and legal guardians supporting a student
- Teachers, therapists, aides, and other school staff
- School districts and other educational institutions
No account, login, or personal information is required to use any EquaAccess™ app. Anyone can open the app and begin using it immediately.
No data collected, ever
EquaAccess™ apps do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information from any user, including children. Everything stays on your device.
Because no data leaves the device, EquaAccess™ apps are compliant with:
- COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
- IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) accessibility requirements
- ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) digital accessibility standards
Schools and districts may deploy EquaAccess™ apps with confidence. No data sharing agreements or parental consent for data collection are required because no data is collected.
Use in schools and districts
Schools and school districts are welcome to distribute EquaAccess™ apps to students and staff through Apple School Manager or any standard iOS deployment method. No special license or district agreement is required for standard educational use.
If your district requires a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) or similar document, please contact us at hello@equaaccess.com. Because we collect no data, we are happy to execute a DPA confirming this for your records.
Acceptable use
We ask all users to use EquaAccess™ apps as they are intended: as accessibility and communication tools that support learning and independence. Please do not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute the app or its contents
- Use the app in any way that could harm another person
- Misrepresent yourself as affiliated with EquaAccess™
These are simple guidelines. We trust our users and do not anticipate issues.
Intellectual property
EquaAccess™ apps, including all software, design, graphics, and content, are owned by EquaAccess™ and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property law. Your use of the app does not transfer any ownership rights to you.
Symbol images, vocabulary content, and communication materials within the app are licensed or created for use within the app only and may not be extracted or redistributed.
No warranties
EquaAccess™ apps are provided “as is.” We work hard to make them reliable and accurate, but we cannot guarantee the app will be available at all times or free from errors. We are not liable for any interruption of service.
EquaAccess™ apps are tools to support communication and learning. They are not a substitute for professional evaluation, therapy, or medical advice. If you have concerns about a student’s communication needs, please consult a qualified speech-language pathologist or assistive technology specialist.
Changes to these terms
If we update these Terms of Use, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. For significant changes, we will include a note in the App Store release notes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
